Bible Training in Telugu: A Complete Curriculum for Pastors Across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana

A Complete Curriculum, Ready in Telugu

Every part of the BTCP program is available in Telugu today. The curriculum offers three tracks so that training fits the calling and context of each student:

• BTCP (10 courses) — full pastoral certification for men who meet the biblical qualifications for pastors outlined in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1

• BTCL (8 courses) — Bible Training for Church Leaders, open to any committed disciple, including women and lay leaders

• BTCI (5 courses) — a foundational overview of Scripture, doctrine, and ministry

Rather than a classroom lecture hall, each course happens in a local, life-on-life setting, no exams, no tuition debt, and no years spent away from a church or family. Students work directly through Scripture with a local instructor, discussing and applying what they read as they go.

A Distinct Community Within Indian Christianity

Telugu Christians are one of India's most established Christian communities, numbering well over a million, concentrated along the coastal belt of Andhra Pradesh and in cities like Hyderabad and Secunderabad. They're also known for some of the highest literacy and workforce participation rates of any religious community in the region, a legacy shaped in part by the mission schools that took root there generations ago.

That history still shapes church life today: many congregations worship bilingually, in both Telugu and English, and English remains the preferred language for urban Christian youth even as Telugu stays central to the wider community. A training curriculum that meets pastors in their own language, rather than requiring English fluency, fits naturally into that reality.

Already Reaching Thousands Across India

Telugu is one of BTCP's most established translations anywhere in the world. Nearly 400 classes have run across India, training close to 12,000 students, a scale that rivals or exceeds many of BTCP's programs in other languages entirely.

This growth has come through a wide network of ministry partners, not any single organization. Bible Training Centre India, Crossing Cultures International, and Indian Leadership have each run dozens of classes across cities and towns throughout Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, including Hyderabad, Secunderabad, Warangal, Kakinada, and Vijayawada, along with many smaller communities in between.

Telugu-speaking Christians live well beyond Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, in cities across India like Bangalore and Chennai, and in Telugu-speaking communities overseas. For every pastor already trained, there are many more still leading churches without any formal biblical foundation.

That gap, not any single region or partner, is what BTCP exists to close: a complete, doctrinally sound curriculum, already proven across hundreds of classes and thousands of graduates, ready to be brought into more churches across the Telugu-speaking world.
