Bible Training in French: A Complete Curriculum for Pastors Across West Africa and Haiti
Across West Africa and Haiti, thousands of pastors lead growing churches, some with hundreds of members, with little or no formal biblical education. Seminary is often out of reach: too expensive, too far away, or taught in a language that isn't theirs. BTCP's full pastor-training curriculum, translated into French, was built to close that gap, bringing sound, in-depth Bible training directly into local churches, at a fraction of the cost of traditional seminary.
A Complete Curriculum, Already in French
The BTCP curriculum has been fully translated into French and is already in active use. It offers three tracks so that training fits the calling and context of each student:
BTCP (10 courses) — full pastoral certification for men who meet the biblical qualifications for pastors outlined in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1
BTCL (8 courses) — Bible Training for Church Leaders, open to any committed disciple, including women and lay leaders
BTCI (5 courses) — a foundational overview of Scripture, doctrine, and ministry
Every course is designed for a local, life-on-life setting rather than a classroom lecture hall: no exams, no tuition debt, and no need to leave a church or family behind for years at a time. Students work directly through Scripture with a local instructor, discussing and applying what they read as they go.
The Impact Already Underway in West Africa and Haiti
This isn't a curriculum waiting to prove itself in French-speaking contexts. It's already running at scale, in some cases for decades.
Over 20 years ago, Gamene Moumini completed BTCP training in Burkina Faso. Since then, he has led the expansion of Bible training programs across the country, opening new centers in cities like Ouagadougou and Bobo Dioulasso, uniting students from many denominations around a shared hunger for Scripture. Graduates from his program have carried the training beyond Burkina Faso, starting new centers in Congo and Chad, extending the reach of French-language pastor training across the region. In Haiti, the story is just as striking. Pastors leading congregations of 300 to 800 members, often without any formal Bible training, completed BTCP's two-year program and marked their graduation with a parade through the city. Word spread quickly: when a second class opened, 60 pastors applied for only 12 available spots. Room to Grow, Worldwide
French-speaking ministry extends well beyond West Africa and Haiti. BTCP's French curriculum is also actively used in France, Canada, Germany, and the USA, often among pastors and congregations who face the same barriers to formal training as their counterparts overseas: cost, distance, and a shortage of theological education in their own language.
