Crossing Cultures International (or CCI)

Mission and Vision

Mission: Crossing Cultures International exists to glorify God by equipping national church leaders for local church ministry and church planting efforts.
Vision: Our vision is to impact Asia and the South Pacific with the gospel by equipping pastors and national leaders for local church ministry, by facilitating church planting efforts and by mobilizing the church for missional activity.

Personnel

While planting churches in the southern Philippines (1986-1999), David and Mindy Nelson were convinced of local church based training as the means to healthy, growing churches. Later, with the Bible Training Centre for Pastors (1999-2005), David served as the Asian Coordinator, equipping and mentoring national pastors throughout Asia. As the Bible Training Centre for Pastors refined their strategy to only resource ministries working with nationals, God directed David and Mindy to start Crossing Cultures International (October 2005).
David has a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics, a Bachelor of Science in Cross-Cultural Church Planting (Magna Cum Laude), and Master of Divinity (Magna Cum Laude), all from Liberty University and Liberty Theological Seminary. He was ordained May 14, 1986 at Martinsville Baptist Church, commissioned by Limerick Chapel on June 1, 1986, and licensed by The Crossing Church in 2005.

Family

David & Mindy were married June 11, 1983 and have two children: David Jr. (married to Michelle) and Ashley, now attending Liberty University.

Ministry Strategy

As classes are formed in a given country, we begin to pray for a national coordinator who has the passion for training, vision for national impact and interpersonal and administrative skills for leading the ministry. These individuals who we mentor and train embrace the 2 Timothy 2:2 approach to ministry by searching for faithful men to entrust ministry. National Coordinators lead a country or region, whereas Provincial Coordinators are developed by National Coordinators who lead in their Province. Through this mentoring relationship, the ministry is extended throughout the country in a web-like fashion to impact as many churches as possible. As the number of Alumni grows, we develop associations where ongoing training occurs for planting churches and for missionary activity. Eventually each country will send out missionaries beyond their borders to unreached people groups.
